Default Recent observations of RPC hand pieces

Well I'm having way too much fun with the Flexcut SKX 200 to go into any great detail so far but There was one immediate notible difference.

The Weight ! The SKX 200 comes in at 13.8 oz. sans blade. The Fordome 50 weighs almost 1/3 of that at 4.6 oz. and I discovered that the Wecheer SL 200 was actually heavier at 4.93 oz.

Mind you these are all individual hand pieces designed to augment Flex shaft motors for Reciprocal Chisel Carving.

The Flexcut is definitely a Professional Grade tool. Built almost entirely of machine grade steel. The Wecheer, and Foredom are both Asian Imports built mostly of Aluminum and Plastic. Not knocking either as they are both splendid little tools for detail, and light duty carving, but this is where the similarity ends !

The Flexcut SKX 200 has a considerable mass for a reciprocal hand piece. The action of the tool was both Smooth, and Decisive when chiseling, and combined with The Flexcut SK series blades, My Foredom TXH Motor, and the Foredom EMX bench top speed control, simpley stated is the Living end in RPC carving !

Mind you The GRS QC 720 pneumatic chisel is state of the art, but lacks Both the blade profile selection, and in my rather limited opinion Blade quality of the Flexcut line.

Getting back to the Mass of the SKX 200 this was a Real Godsend for Smooth Controlled cutting. The greater mass made extremely efficient use of the 1/3 HP TXH motor, and the EMX allowed me infinitely repeatable accuracy in speed control.

While I've never had the oportunity to do any lengthy cutting with the Flexcut SKX 100 Kit. Both Bob, and Colin can go into Great detail on their virtues. The heavier handpiece was not prone to bounce or chatter at high speed even on Bubinga, and Rock Maple. This produced Extremely Clean Flowing cuts. Even when paring paper thin shavings.

Surprisingly the action was equally refined all the way down to using it with the 1mm 45* veiner, and slowed to a lighter action wasn't prone to gouging or Burying the tip. I cut many strings up to 3 ft. in length with remarkable consistency, but I definitely had to tune it down for intricate scroll work.

As RPC's go it certainly isn't inexpensive, but 100% of the Quality is There, and combined with the Foredom TXH set. I'd be willing to go head to head with the Arbortech for 4 to 8 hairs at a time. Obviously heat within the intended parameter of usage was a non-issue. Barely even got warm ! Thumbs Up This one's a Keeper, and I'm presently exploring the most extreme applications...I Love It !!! Jester

Wow, I actually had to think about that ? Ouch !

Well, The Foredom TXH set came from Tool & Blade.com

The EX speed control From Daniel Lopaki Co.

and the Flexcut SKX200, and Blades came from Dennis Mackey at CyberCarving.com

All great folks to deal with, but I have to say Dennis's outstanding customer service is very hard to beat ! Pics are another challenge for me. That's Really my wife's territory, but I'll manage eventually. I think ? Monkey
