Default Power Sharpening systems for clubs

There has been all types of postings, questions and answers about the power sharpening systems on this forum/board. But I cannot find one specifically about the purchase and use of a power sharpening system for a carving club.

Our little carving group (12 - 18 participants) at the senior center, puts a dollar each into a big jar each time we get together. This money is to purchase a power sharpening system for the groups use.

My questions are: Does anyone belong to a carving club or group that has, and uses a power sharpening system? If so, what system would you recommend, taking into consideration the various abilities of the members who would use the system. Which systems do you think are the easist to learn, operate, and maintain.

Thank you,

Tom H

Our group uses the Tormex. We also bought a white wheel for it. Useing the jigs did'nt seem to be a problem. It works well for us, but is pricey. Also stores easily in a cabinet. We are all up in age and like any new gizmo there is a learning curve. Some catch on faster than others, and some won't use it no matter how good a job it does because " It's one of them new fangeled inventions " LOL
