| | Re: Pocket knife for whittlin' Ah, sharpen and use it. They're not that much of a collectors item. I got three of them last year on ePay for about $15 each.
They do seem to be pretty good, for whittlin' at least.
All the best,

An old utiliy knife holster and it's good to go! http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.co...7&d=1166815525 |

| | Re: Pocket knife for whittlin' During one of the Scout Training sessions I went to one of the Cub Scout leaders was using one of those small swiss army key chain knifes. The ones with a 1-1/4" blade, file, toothpick and tweesers. He sharpened it using a ceramic stone and would strop it on the bottem of his shoe. He was carving some wonderfull neckerchief slides.
He said he used a little knife to show the Cubs that you didn't need a Bowie knife to carve with if you took your time.
I ran into him in the Atlanta airport about a year later (before 9-11) and he had a croud of folks watching him carve a puppy out of a 2x2x1" block for a young boy.
I am sure that the maintenance folks weren't to happy but when he got finighed with the puppy, the boy sure was.

| | Re: Pocket knife for whittlin' The Shrade name lives again! Only it is now a Chinese company that makes it. When I found out, I swelled with righteous indignation at the loss of yet another US manufacturer. I decided to buy a Buck instead. Alas, the Buck Knives are also made in China. Nuts.

| | Re: Pocket knife for whittlin' Hello,
i do a lot of whittling in branches and also the ornaments I did this year were all done to a certain extent with a whittling knive. I own several Sea hourse whittlers, and bokers, cases, ect. But the best one I have found is the Kershaw Double cross. If you buy it from Rick already sharpened you will have a knife you can use from now on. Just my opinion.
