I have spent the past 30 minutes reading all the previous posts on pocket knifes. You see I may get one. Kids are starting to think about Fathers Day. Fathers day, Birthday, and Christmas are the times I increase my tools. I will be looking for a pocket knife that meets the following criteria: 1. Can be used for carving smaller objects 2. Has lock back blade(s). 3. Requires no modification to the blade (by me). 4. Holds an edge really well. 5. Is reasonably priced. 6. Can be ordered from a catalog Thanks Tom H |

| I have a small knife collection several of which I think of as carving knives as they have a Warencliff style blade. I like the one Rick sells far better than any of the others. It’s less expensive too. |

The one Rick at littleshavers sells is good. He modifies a Kershaw Double Cross and presharpens it. Can't remember what I paid, but it was reasonable for a quality knife. Comfortable to use and does have locking blades. Is of a reasonable size and carries well in you pocket.

Wow, Thanks for all the great information on pocket knives. You have helped me sort through the many out there. And again it seems Rick is the one to see. Thanks all. Tom H

I've got a flexcut carvin' jack too. I'd call it a micro-tool more than a carving knife, though it certainly is a carving knife too. I like it, but use it as a travel tool...carving when traveling or sitting around waiting for an oil change or whatever. They are pricy, but they're a tool collection, not just a blade. Wade |
