I modified a Victornox Classic Tinker. It is a great knife for whittling and it holds an edge for a long time. The other tools are nice to have also. The reamer is really good for holes in whistles, carved eye pupils...etc. And you can always use a flat tip and phillips screwdriver. I modified the can opener to make a smaller screwdriver. You can still open your favorite BEVERAGE (AFTER YOU CARVE !!!). I have been carrying one for years and I AM NEVER WITHOUT IT. I have other expensive knives but you just can't beat the price for what you get. Look on EBAY or at WalMART. You can get one under $20.00.

Another nice feature is that if you break it, send it back to Victornox and they will fix it for FREE!!

Something I've never understood is the necessity for a locking blade. How to you get the blade to close if your cutting with the knife (unless your trying to cut with the dull side)? Years ago many knives didn't even have backsprings, they were friction folders. Not that I don't have a couple, both liner locks and lock backs, but the vast majority of my knives are traditional slip joints (i.e. backsprings, no lock). What am I missing?

I am not suggesting that either of these knives are worth any money. Just curious, bout knife makin I guess.

I do it for the same reason I whittle/carve. I enjoy messing with the tools. Probably more than the whittling and carving. I tear knives apart, mix and match blades, change handles, even make a very clumsy attempt at file work once in a while.

Ed I have had near misses with a folding knife. Of course that was was when I was younger and did not know nearly as much as I do now(Could be debatable that I know anything yet?).
Usually it was when I tried to do a piercing where I was trying to bore or stab in, rather than cut. BTW my day to day carrying knife is a Swiss Army, and I have refused to fly since they won't let me carry it on the plane(Could be the McGyver thing?).

Default Victorinox Tinker additional modifications

I made some additional modifications to my Victorinox Tinker. I got a "wild hair" the other day and thought what other modifications could I make to my Tinker? I beveled the edge on the large and small flat tip screwdrivers to make a chisel. I honed them up and they work great!! After you make these modifications don't try to use them as a screwdriver.

Now I have a half -a$$ Carvin' Jack !!
