Got this from a dealer in OK. Large blade is about 1 3/4" and the smaller about 1 3/8". Closed it's about 3 3/8". $31 like this and with a mother of pearl handle $59. German made Bulldog. Good solid snap, with half stops. No lateral blade play. Have several other Bulldog knives and all are of excellent quality. http://www.collectorknives.net/bulldog.html They are about the 4th row down on the left.

Ed, Nice looking knife. Price is pretty good also. Is this one going to be a working knife, or one for the collection? Jim |

I think I'm going to sharpen it up and use it. Bulldogs are collectible, but not like Case's. Don't know why, that's just the way it is.

Let us know how it holds up. I've got a case small congress that has developed wobbly blades after a while. I'd be interested to know if the bulldog does too. mikeg |

Mike, On Case knives, and most other pocket knives, all that's needed to fix the lateral play on the blades is to lay the knife down with one of the bolster on a hard surface and tap the other side a few times with a hammer. If you look at the knife closely, you can see the nickel silver pin that goes through the knife bolsters, liners and blade pivot. It acts almost like a rivet. Schrades us a different method of construction and cannot be fixed this easilly. This particular Bulldog is a take apart model and all you need to use to fix any lateral play is tighten the screw. I'd scan in a picture for you, but am stuck with Windows and my laptop until sometime around Tuesday. Just had some work done on the old ticker so not quite up to speed yet. Getting awful old, all this laying around.

I like the knife and the shape of the blades, are they stainless or carbon?

They are high carbon stainless, 440c I believe. Hold an edge extremely well. After the initial sharpening, just your normal occassional stropping does the trick.
