Default For the Newbies

Just had another great experience buying from Little Shavers. Had to order 2 new strops (my son thinks it's a chew toy and walked off with it! By now, my dog probably buried it.)

Anyway, I ordered the strops and had them 2 days later. Perfect since all my blades were now dull and I couldn't carve without sharpening some new ones.

For all the newbies out there, like many others, I'd highly recommend Little Shavers for your wood carving needs. I never knew they existed until I came to this site so I figure there may be others out there who have never heard of them.

I must disagree.

While there ARE many "woodcarving" stores on the net there are only a few with the reputation for quality customer service and with the good reputation of Little Shavers.

Personally I prefer to deal with a fellow craftsperson when buying tools for my hobbies. The "big box" shops may carry a lot of stuff but small, "family owned" businesses still offer the service and expertise that make the difference between a good experience and "net shopping hell".

Got to agree with Cliff. It's always better to buy things from people who actually use them. While I've never bought from Little Shaver's, I have heard nothing but good from anyone who has done business with Rick.

Totally agree with Cliff ,Little shavers is a great place to do business with plus Rick makes sure the tools you buy from him are sharp and he resharpens tools he sells you for free. Can't beat that for sure.

Kenny, I didn't realize he sharpened tools you buy from him for free! I gotta remember that next time I need knives!

This was exactly the intention of my original message, to let people know places like this exist! I know there are lots of places to buy carving supplies, but like many of you have pointed out, I'd rather buy from someone with a good reputation that other carvers trust.

Uncle Ed says, "If Rick ain't got it, you don't need it." You won't find better service anywhere, anyplace, anytime.

I definitely agree, though it is "The Woodcraft Shop" not "Woodcarver's Supply". I have had the good fortune of dealing with "Big Dog" at several shows here in Iowa and Minnesota and have always recieved great value for my "carving dollars".
