Default New knives.

I plunged into the world of making my first razor knife this week. I'm still struggling with the blade shape, though I am happy with the handle.

The top knife is a rebuild of a knife I had made using a Warren interchangable blade. I say rebuild as the handle failed under use so I made a new handle for it. (poor epoxy) The wood is "fumed" Maple.....ain't that some interesting stuff.

The lower knife is the new razor knife. The blade shape is too long, and just a bit too thick, so I've started to reshape it. I'm happy with the handle, the wood is Zebrawood, I think, not sure, very hard with a beauty of a grain. Have to begin sharpening, will use my Japanise waterstones 1000 , 4000, 8000, then leather hand strop with yellow or green polishing compound. Trying for a mirror finish, like the blade from Rick, but we'll see if I can achieve that. If not, I'll box it up and send it out for his "magic" to be done!

Haven't accomplished much else for a couple of weeks, too darn sore, looking forward to making some chips with these.

Bob

Nothing wrong with the shape of the longer knife. Good for some serious 'hogging'.

Beautiful grain, that zebrawood.
