Default Re: New Knife_Fav new love

My suggestions for stropping:

1. Use a thin piece of leather (1/32 or 1/16),,,glue it to a wooden base,,,,,nice and flat.

2. At the end of your stropping stroke on the leather,,,,stop and lift the blade up vertically. If you flip or rotate the blade it will round over or "dub" the cutting edge.

3. Avoid old belts or scrap leather that is soft or thick,,,,this will also increase the rounding on the cutting edge and make the edge less efficient at cutting.

4. In my experience the most efficient stropping compound is the Yellowstone or Flex Cut dry CrO type. It cuts fast and polishes the edge to a mirror. Any of the other compounds will work,,,they just take much longer time.

5. If you take care of the blade and strop often, you most likely will never require a sharpening stone to touch the knife.

Regards,
FK
