Default New Drake Knife

I love my Drake tools, both palm tools and knives. I picked up a new knife at the Ft. Myers carving show this past weekend. I got it from Mac of Smoky Mountain Woodcarvers Supply I believe he has them custom made by Gil Drake, he calls them Mac The Knife. Gil Drake Knives (one up from the bottom) Anyway it is one of the bests knives that I own, I love the handle and blade. Sharp out of the package, and stays sharp! Just an awesome knife! And of course Mac is a nice guy to do business with.

Mike, I had to push my way in to see what Mac had, but it was worth it. He also had a bunch of Drake gouges.

I have quite a collection of carving knives I have gatherd over the years. I fined my self using my Drake knives most of the time. Same with palm tools. after I stated useing Drake tools I sent most of my flex cuts to my daughter who has gotten in to carving also.

I now use my Flexcut gouges just for Cottonwood and other found wood. Drake is what I use 90% of the time.

Ditto on the Drake love.

Because I'm what you'd call an 'aggressive carver', I defer to Flexcuts for bulk wood removal. I don't feel so bad when I subject them to abuse. The Drakes come out for the finishing/detail work.

Great knife but I already bent the tip, don't know how I did it but I did it. Probably my fault, not the knife quality.
