Default New Bandsaw

Went over to our brand new Lowes (about 5 miles from my house) tonight and picked up a Delta 10" band saw (Model BS150LS). Hopefully I will get time to put it togeather next week and give it a try. Gotta be petter than my Ryobi 9 1/2" POS. We shall see.

Now THATS what I'm TALKIN about! Got the beastie put togeather and adjusted about 20 minutes ago. Took a piece of basswood scrap I use for testing knives and such (2 x 2). Cut straight across and there was VERY little blade drift. Tried a few curves and the blade tracked along very nicely!! And that was the with the blade that came with the saw!

Now, I have to remember to send in an order for some timberwolf blades!!

Anyone want an almost new Ryobi 9 1/2 incher? Real cheap!

Glad you like the Delta. It will probably give you years of service.I have a Delta 9 inch bench bandsaw and used it till I got the Grizzly. Poor thing just sits, gethering dust and pouts now. Was a great little saw for years.. May give it to my son now that he has a house. That is where a lot of my tools are now, or at the son in laws.
To bad "they" don't have a return policy.

They have sanding belts you can put on bandsaws, I got one with my ridgid, never used it....that would be a good use for your extra ryobi!

Wow, I didn't know that. Any idea of where to buy the sanding belts?

Re: DELTA 9"
Been using one for about 4 yrs. Only use it for cutting chip carving patterns in 1/4- 3/4 inch basswood. Darn thing never could cut anything thicker without burning. Does this even with a new blade. Two inch is impossible without binding.
Moving in a couple months and a woodshop is part of the deal. Hope to buy a Grizzly 14".

Took a look around and found that Lee Valley tools has the sanding belts, but unfortunately not in the size I need (59 1/2").

Did find out something interesting though. In the Delta Instruction Manual for my saw on page 13 they boldly state that the saw takes a 59 1/2" blade, and then on page 22 they state that I need to use blades that are 93 1/2" in length.

Their website states the blades are 72 1/2" in length as does the sticker on the side of the saw.

Looks like they are pretty sure about the 1/2", but not the rest!

I know my 14" Ridgid takes a 93 1/2"blade. That 59 1/2 sounds like a small benchtop!

Is it 93 1/2 for the Ridgid? I was about to order another blade for mine and was thinking it was 96 1/2???? hummmm better go check first! As for the Delta, call the tech reps and get the straight story, they might also be able you to whoever sells the sanding belts...
