I have delt with MDI for at least 20 years & highly recommendd them. Wayne Edmondson can be very helpful since he is a bird carver. He is always at the Down East carving show in Maine. I am from Georgia & order from Maine to get his Service!!!!

Eddie, What my wife and I went to Rhoad Island five years ago to visit our kids that were
stationed there,my son in law drove me to Greg Dorrance Carving Supplies,I discovered that
Greg was a very down to earth person, knows just about everything wood carvers need to know. He personally runs his small store that is very well supplied and he will stand by anything he sells,if I lived in that area or close by I would buy all of my carving supplies from him,he also
carries a large supply of tupelo roughed out wildfowl a bird carver would ever want.I was totally impressed by his service. Another not about Greg,I purchased a large supply of tuple from him
that he sent to my home in California, when I tried working on the wood it was hard as rocks,I
called Greg about this and he told me to keep the wood and deducted it from my credit card.
Eddie I hope this helps you.
Oscar

Thanks again all and thanks for that extra info Oscar! That's good to know for the future.

My "Whittlin' Jack" arrived from MDI Woodcarvers Supply today as promised. Total charge was only $46.95. The knife was only $39.95 and then they knocked off $2.00 of the shipping because the order (item) was so small. We did have a discussion over the security code on the back of my credit card. They said that their credit card company needed it to process the order but I wasn't about to release it so we agreed on a $0.50 surcharge which I didn't think unreasonable. They said that was aproximately the % that they would have to pay to get the transaction processed without that code.

I even discovered that I had an unused Flexcut "Jack Sheath" put away from when I purchased my "Carvin' Jack" years ago and never used so I'm ready go!

I know you went with MDI, but a big +1 for Greg (that's where I got my Whittlin Jack) - a very stand-up guy & company.
