Default Need a Review of MDI Woodcarvers and/or Greg Dorrance Co.

I finally got to hold a Whittlin Jack the other day and I've just about made up my mind to get me one to supplement my Carvin' Jack.

Checking prices on the net is a joke. They range from $39.95 all the way up to $69.95.

MDI Woodcarvers Supply up in Burnham, Maine and the Greg Dorrance Co. in Attleboro, MA seem to have the lowest prices at the moment at $39.95.

I've never ordered from either of them. Any recommedations?

Ed I haven't ordered anything from MDI either but the one club I belong to down here Treasure Coast Carving Club orders their supplies from them and don't seem to complain about their service.

I've used MDI for several orders and have been very pleased with them. Their prices have been excellent and their service is too.

I've ordered from them previously and was well satisfied. I even ordered some special sized bases and they, too, were great. Good supplier and good service.

I know Greg Dorrance personally... Great guy.
He ships almost anything for one flat fee of $7.20... it doesn't matter how many things you order....

I was eyeballing that Whittlin' Jack last time I was there...<drool>...

I've used MDI a lot. Their service is great & they are very helpful. Shipping is high, but if your order is over $200 shipping is free. I've placed orders with other carvers so we can share the shipping cost or possibly reach the $200 amount.

Thanks all for your help! Unfortunately I couldn't order from both so I called MDI this morning and ordered my Whittlin Jack from them. They were very accommodating including helping me out with the shipping and working with me on how much information they required when using a credit card. They seem like very good people. I should get my knife Thursday or Friday.
