Check the co-planar again. It's fairly critical that they be coplanar. If the blade is wandering I questions whether the blade is tight enough and if the guides are set properly. A blade should have about 1/4 inch deflection pushing sideways on the blade under proper tension.

Just to update (and bragg a little) I took the advice that was given about keeping my eyes open on such sites as Craigs list etc. well I believe it has paid off! We have a site up here called Kijiji and it's a buy/sell site so I've been watching.
Last week I was able to seal the deal on a 12" Craftsman Cabinet Makers Series electronic bandsaw. I'm not sure of the exact age, but it is in remarkable condition. All I had to do was buy a new battery for the didgital display and I did replace the blade, although I don't think that I had to.
Total cost $ 150.00 plus gas to go pick it up ( and we managed to take a route that allowed us to see the grand children while we were doing it )
