I just purchased a Warren knife with interchangeable blades. When I carve with it, the knob used to tighten the blade into the handle loosens up allowing the blade to move! I have tighten this knob as hard as I can and it still does it.Aside from putting lock-tight on it ( which would cancel out the interchangeability of the blades ) any ideas as to how to keep it tightened? Thanks.Cowboy

I had the same problem. Finally gave up and mounted all the chisels and blades in fixed handles. Not why you wanted to hear. Hope somebody has a better solution.

Try teflon tape on the threads--it might help. Probably won't last long if you change blades often--if it works at all.

"Locktite" has several types of thread/bolt adhesives, some are permanent, like permatex and others you can remove, but keeps the nut securely on the bolt, you might try a little of that, any parts house would have it or something similar. Cowboy

I've got alot of these and the same thing happens to me, it just became second nature to tighten them as I go - sort of like blinking! Jillsy |

Anything that can be screwed can come unscrewed. The concept of a portable tool is a good one in theory but evidently bad in reality. I have one of those knives I inherited from my Dad but have never used it for that reason. The same goes for pocket knives. Just as the blade can unfold from the handle it can and will find it's way back. Now Old Reliable has a screw in it's handle to hold the two halves together but in the 30 some years I've been using it the blade has never become loose.

Bandaid; I think Ed has the right idea. You need to find some wood you like for handles, epoxy them in, and quit screwing around. More time for carving that way. Not only will this be a nice little project, but you will be up to speed when you decide to make a razor knife or something similar. Jim |

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try the teflon tape, then locktite. If they don't help, I guess I'll have to make some handles and glue the blades in.
