I have some of the Two Cherries micro carving tools and they are excellent! If you want real high-end micro tools, you cannot go wrong with Two Cherries. The best prices I have found are at:
www.toolsforworkingwood.com

The place is called The Museum of Woodworking Tools. They sell Two Cherries and Ashley Isles Carving tools.

They are very fast, friendly & helpful. The website also has some excellent information concerning carving.

flwoodcarver, I have a brands called "Dockyard", I have had these sets since I statred woodcarving.
They have several sets, I have two of them and the micro knife set. The two set's that I own are the "sculpture set" , and by the tools you outlined in your post would probably suit your needs just fine, with this set mentioned you recieve five tools, a small V-tool, skew chisel, and three U- gouges with a #9 sweep from 3mm , 4mm , and 5mm in size. The other set that I have is called "Gouge Set" with five tools, #9 sweep from 1mm to 5mm in size. These are excellent tools and if taken care of will last a life time.

One additional vote for Dockyard -- great steel and nice cherry hex handles.

The best steel IMHO is from Cape Forge, they have a nice selection of micro sized tools, very tough forged steel.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I bought a set of the palm micro tools for now. I'm going to add some of the expensive individual tools as I go along.
