Hello everyone, I have a question and that is, can I use a meat cutting band saw to cut wood? I believe I can but I need to know. Thanks Bird carver.

I can't really see why you couldn't. Surely it will accept a different size blade than is normally used for cutting meat.

I saw a listing for a dual pupose band saw, wood and meat cutting, so it must be possible (Grizzly?). Does it have a sliding table? Mike

No reason it won't work. You will probably need a different blade. Doug |

I cut up deer and hogs with a wood cutting band saw, I don't see any reason the reverse wouldn't work. Be less of a clean up job than what I do for sure.

Thanks Guy's for your help. I figured to go for a new butcher meat saw with a 9.5 inch max cut, it should work. Mike to answer your Question it has a sliding table also. If anyone is interested amazon.com or there is other places you can check on, you can pick one up for $200.00, plus $70.00 for shipping. As you know this is a fraction of what you would pay for a normal band saw. I will let you know how it works out. Thanks again, Bird carver

Hi, I bought one of the meat cutting saws with the sliding table, it was guaranteed, (not from amazon) paid a good price, it was a piece of junk. Called the supplier, no way they would do any thing. The meat grinder that was an attachment, severed the shaft to turn the worm. The table was impossible to keep lined up, and even more difficult to replace after cleaning it. I've worked as a meat cutter for several yrs and have never seen a bigger hunk of junk !!!!!!!1 You will more than likely have trouble keeping the blade on if your cutting wood.

When I posted earlier I assumed you had the meat saw on hand. NO WAY would I pay $270.00 for a meat saw! You shoud be able to find a decent WW saw for only a little more money. Shop around! Doug |
