Well....my husband, wanting nothing more than to be helpful and surprising, came home with a Craftsman 12-in. bandsaw today. So...that's what I'm going to use!! It does what I want it to do, so I will just tuck all the other advice I've gotten in the back of my mind, and hope for the best. I can always upgrade after I've given this one it's proper uses :-)

Sweet of him to do it for me.

Teri

Ahhh lucky you ... now if you snoop around a bit you can find out who made it in the first place and maybe save some money on accessories/parts.

My experience is in line with Lorax on the 3-wheel Craftsman. It is miserable to keep the blade on the wheels and miserable to put them on when they come off. I find that if I clamp the blade to the top wheel, I can get it over the other two fairly quickly. My advice on power tools: Get the BIGGEST one you can afford! It will probably still be too small for everything you want to do with it.

Teri, I think you will be very pleased with your new Craftsman; mine has served me well for over 15 years, and even with the few quirks, I have described earlier, I'm REALLY glad I have it! Plus you'll find that parts are readilly available and quickly delivered right to your door if you register your product and get the service center list on the internet. I think it's www.sears.com they are really helpful, and once your machine is registered, they can find the parts you need even if you loose your information.
