Default Jerry-Rigs???

I have been looking at the jerry rigs carving vise, and can't deside what to do. Even at half off, they are pricy. Here is the question. Are they worth $140???

James,

Hi! I have two J-100 units. The first one was given to me to evaluate and the second one I purchased. They are very well made and with the table clamp the are portable. For relief carving you can make a universal work surface with a piece of three-quarter inch plywood larger than your carving. Use scarp wood strips to secure your carving to the work surface. Mount the plywood to the a positioner plate and you are in business. I would highly recommend one for your bench.

Jerry Fank is a helpful guy should you have any questions.

I have one and it is very well made, no regrets.

You can also use the Lee Valley carving vise posts in the Jerry-Rig. The LV accessories are smaller and less expensive.

Regards,
FK

I have the jerry-rig ball vise and my only problem with it is the base rotates on my new bench due to the high gloss finish on it. I may try a bit of rubber mat between the base and the bench to see if that will fix the problem. Otherwise it is a tank of a vise.
