Default Interesting Toolbox

I came across this picture (I think its of Bart at the Charlotte show) of a cool toolbox...

...I'm thinking of upgrading from my wooden cigar boxes and actually building a sealed box to put them in this winter...

...what kind of toolbox are you using?

Bart if its yours, I like it man!!!

tony,

yes this is my box and it is what i keep my tools in all the time there are some more pics of it in works in progress section i think under traveling carving kit started by gilly.
i searched quite awhile looking for the right type of tools storage, mark akers had built a similar box and i always liked so instead building a box i decided to find an antique looking box and adapting that to my toolbox, we were on vacation in north carolina and started checking in all the antique stores and ran across this box.
so i brought it home made the insert to fit in it,put on some 90 degree stays so the lid will stand up and a handle and this is what i have carried for about the last 2 years it is not very heavy, and is made fromold coke-cola crates and and old metal sign, one thing about it it is like no other. if you have any more questions or want more pics let me know and i will try and get them this weekend.

Steal it for sure Hi Ho now that they know it's full of carving tools and not just empty coke bottles..
TucsonBill over in the Finishing and Painting under "Paint Caddy" thread shows a box that looks similar in size that he made to hold his painting gear.

...Dave your right it is an antique!!!

Bart, hopefully you didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for it. Just thought it was a novel toolbox and easily identifiable.

BTW, are you planning on going back to Charlotte in Feb??

I thought that might be you Mitchell but your hat looked different.

Was that a carving contest being held?

I switch hats frequently - as well as facial hair - I had a full beard there (not now). As a matter of fact, I didn't recognize me at first!

Tom Wolfe sponsors a two carving contests in Charlotte each year - and that is indeed what we are doing. It's a lot of fun - as a matter of fact, I go there for the carving contest as much as the show itself.

Bart's tool box IS very neat. I like the fact that it can be closed up....my current box is not closeable.
