I think you're on the right track. After you sharpen a couple of gouges, all of this will be second nature. For most straight gouges, v-tools and veiners, re-grinding and sharpening doesn't hurt the tool. But for fishtail tools and spoon gouges, you can't grind and resharpen much before you lose the shape. You can turn a 1/2" tool into a 3/8" tool pretty quickly. Mike

Another tip about the Tormek... if you haven't already done so... use the Stone Grader to grade your stone on the smooth side... you'll get better results.
