Re: Inexpensive Sharpening Machine I mark them with a sharpie marker and then use a dremel or foredom flex shaft tool with a cutoff wheel. I cut for a couple of seconds and then quench the blade in water. You can see the water evaporate as the blade heats up. Quench it before it gets too hot and the temper will remain.
I leave a little scrap to grind off while making the bevel.
I will post some pictures when I make the next one.
It looks like I am going to make a set of chip carving knives.
