| | Hi Ho,s blade protectors. Hi Ho...I've been admiring the blade covers you have made for your knives. Are they one piece or are they laminated?
By the way, thats a beautiful set of knives you show in the gallery.

| | Re: Hi Ho,s blade protectors. Sorry...I didn't see this post! The protectors are two pieces, and I relieve the inside of each half and fit and cut etc until I get a snug fit.....I was using pieces of the magnetic business card at first, but hasn't been necessary with a snug fit....some suggest the round magnets, but I don't want my knife rubbing against the magnet each time I put it in the protector, will dull the blade I am afraid, the magnetic business cards are rubber so probably no problem except I suspect they have metal in them as well..so I decided to just fit them and so far has worked well.....Will Hayden says he just drills a hole in a protector and fills it with silicon and when dry puts the blade in that.......may try it just out of curiosity, but I am happy with these protectors, I have also made this same design for my chisels.....Dave (if you send me your email via a private message, I will see if I can send you the pictures I took step by step for one of these protectors..no promises...I am computer challenged! LOL) |
