| | Help please...does anyone know anything about Foredom CC series rotary carver? I was off with hubby yesterday to the VA Hospital for a check up (hubby's check up...not mine!). Anyhow, we stopped by a yard sale and I bought a Foredom for $2.00! It looks old, has a metal toggle switch to turn it on and off, but we plugged it in and it works!!
Also has the Foredom 30 handpiece, but without the chuck key!! Anyone out there with a Foredom have a telephone number or address for parts? I figure I should be able to order one. I'll do some research on the internet, just figured my first place to check for advice and information was here!!
This was a great sale, the man had been a model ship builder and had so much equipment. We got a belt sander, a big round sander (I have no idea what it's called but hubby was really happy to get it), lots of smaller tools and equipment. Been a while since we've stopped at any yard sales, sure glad we went to that one! Callynne |

| | Re: Help please...does anyone know Congratulations.........that sounds like a great sale. You're at the right place at the right time. Too bad the ship modeller was getting rid of his tools though. ![001[1]3424](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/001[1]3424.gif) to hear that part. Foredom has a web site, it should appear if you Google it. Enjoy the new toys....er.....tools.

Might try here. I have an old Foredom and I think it's a CC. Iv'e had this for at least 30 years and used it for gunsmithing work for years. I believe that it will accept the various types of hand pieces. I have a checkering handpiece that works well if you have a steady hand and reasonably good hand strength. Over the years I've put in new brushes, new inter-cable and outer sheath, lots of shaft grease and it just keeps on grinding away. Did it come with the foot control and wall hook? Should serve you well, good luck with it. |

| | Re: Help please...does anyone know Thanks Dryheat, that's just what I needed! I see I can get a chuck key for $4.95, hubby laughed, asked how much did I pay for the system, I told him it's still a great deal, even if the chuck key is again as much as I paid for the Foredom!!
No, it didn't come with anything except the handpiece. I have to check it out today, I don't see where it disconnects from the shaft, looks like it's all one piece...could that be the case? My MasterCarver system, the handpieces just unsnap. Like I said, will really have to check it out today, yesterday was too busy with other things to get to it.
Bob, the gentleman had passed away and his family was selling everything off. We stopped back out there this morning and bought six boxes of model ship kits (that weren't there the other day, they keep bringing things in), looks like hubby might be going to be finding that winter time hobby after all! I told him I know just who to ask if he runs into any problems!
We stopped by our sons and dropped two of them off, winter projects for him and our grandson. Our grandson was thrilled, he's always building complicated projects using Lego's, I think model ship building is going to be something he will love!!
Thanks again for the advice! Callynne

| | Re: Help please...does anyone know Six kits should keep hubby, son and grandson busy for a while. Good for them! It is a great hobby, passtime, or life long obcession. I'm here to help them any time they need it. Tell them to please, take their time, relax, never get frustrated and enjoy themselves. The effort will be worth it.

| | Re: Help please...does anyone know Thanks Bob, I appreciate knowing you'll be available for advice! Our fourteen year old Grandson is really excited about doing it. All the models were wooden except one, which is a three foot long motorized battleship. We gave him that one first and told him as soon as he finishes it come over and pick out one of the wooden ones. He's really going to town on that battleship! I told Ben last night, I think we may have inspired something in him. And knowing Christopher, I doubt he'll tire of it, he has endless patience with his complicated Lego building!!
Dryheat, thank you so much, I was positive that thing was permanently attached!! I pulled and pulled, twisted round and round and couldn't get it to come off. Ben tried and thought it was a fixed thing too. I couldn't imagine that it was but it wouldn't come loose!
After reading your post just now I went out and tried it again. It was a real son of a gun, but it did finally come off, practically put me on my butt when it did! Getting it back on was even harder (probably because Ben hadn't been trying it first, I'm sure that's the only reason it finally came off, he'd loosed it up!)....who knows when, or even if, it was ever off of there!!
That's the great thing about this message board, someone always seems to be able to come up with just the answer to what I need! Thank you very much! Callynne |
