Default Harbor Freight Bandsaw

Just got a President's Day sale flyer from Harbor Freight. They have a 4 speed 14" band saw for $260 (normally $330). It is made by Central Machinery. You can see it at http://www.harborfreightusa.com/usa/...o?itemid=32208.

Anybody heard of this machine, or better yet, has anyone tried it?

Bill,
I may be very wrong, but I doubt it, this deal seems too good to be true.
Buy a good quality name brand saw, and enjoy it for many years. You will forget the couple of bucks you thought you saved.
I have never been able to get the worms back into the can, much less, catch fish.
Have fun!
Jim

Bill, You get what you pay for. I have notice that some of Harbor Freight tools are not of the quality for long use. I really don't know about Harbor Freight's 14 inch bandsaw. You might look at Grizzly at their bandsaws. I have the ultimate 14 inche bandsaw and well worth the money. I like it better than Craftmans 14 inch bandsaw.Plus you can get a lift kit with the Grizzly, I don't know if Harbor Freight's band saw is capable of using a lift/riser kit. Just my two Abe Lincoln's worth.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I agree with your observations. I went to the store and looked at the machine. Looked a little rough around the edges to me.

I would love to have the Grizzly, but it is quite a bit beyond my budget right now.

Went to my Lowes store and found the Delta 10" for $199. Since Lowes has a great return policy, I went ahead and bought one. Hope to try it out this week. Delta has a good name in tools, so I am hopin!

I have seen yhe web site for grizzly have reconditioned tools in the past. I agree with Kenny you get what you pay for. I have a Ridgid 14" and it works pretty good.
