Default Gouge Information

Has anyone tried the gouges from "Mountain Woodcarvers"? Do they hold their edge very well? Are they well made? The price seems good, but will they hold up?

I have some of these and they are decent tools.
Nothing fancy and worth what you pay for them.
If you are a tool-nut then you might be underwhelmed by them as compared to the big name gouges on the market, fit, finish & steel.
But they sharpen up fine and seem to hold an edge as well as their price would suggest.
As all all around wood carving tool purchase, on a scale 1-10, I'd give them a 6.

Thank you Russ. That is the kind of information I was looking for. If anyone else has some hands on experience with these gouges, please chime in.

Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd, I don't use them, I like Denny's and Flexcut tools. They are good and sharp and at a good price.

Thanks Bob. I have 2 Swiss Made gouges now and like them a lot. I am going to purchase a few more real soon. I am looking at full size gouges and was just checking some other brands. The Mountain Woodcarver gouges looked ok, and I might order one to see how it is. They are cheap and I know I will probably get what I pay for it, but it would help me round out some sizes quicker.
