just arrived home (after a lil detour) from purchasing my flexcut starter carving set.

Really looking forward to using it but I think I should get some needed sleep first.

Well Steve, a new and first carving set opens a whole world of possibilities. Determining the type of carving you want to begin with, the type of wood, lots of decisions. Safety first, make sure you get yourself a carving glove to protect yourself from cuts, they happen, all too quickly for beginners, and can be serious. Private lessons, public classes, carving clubs, online tutorials and lots of books, are all ways to learn the basics.
