Will do. There's been some discussion going on in the back ground. Some of the gang at the local club are making preparations for the Gretna retreat and will be using power tools on their bark carvings and are required to bring personal dust collectors. I purchased some oversized muffin fans and realized straight away that they were just a little big for people carving in close quarters hence the need for a plenum to direct the exhaust away from the table. Smaller fans would have resulted in a simpler design. The unit uses 10 x 20 filters and uses a collapsible shroud constructed of plexiglass and attached with velcro. I should have it finished ina day or two

Elwood,
fyi
i put out the word during the summer to the neibors and relatives that if they had window type air conditioners to fail i wanted them if they were going to pitch them,

i got several this year and upon inspection, most were fan motor lubrication problems,
seams now days we as owners are required to remove the window a/c units and lube the motors bushing/bearings with 30 wt oil..

First i ever heard of it...

never the less i retrieved the motors fans and switch boxes out of several 110 units, now i have several hones/ grinders and dust extractors in plans..
the motors are double shafted.

my thinking why reinvent the wheel ill just use whats provided including the case on the smaller units, except having to improvise fir a filter these fans should work fine in the control of dust.

the 3 speed motors are real nice to make hones out of...

as to getting rid of the compressors i brought the freon charged parts to a ac repairman he recycles the freon so i got some payback for being enviroment friendly, and he disposed of the cores...
it did cost me for the shaft arbors to mount the stones and hone wheels..

fyi

I purchased 115 vac muffin fans rated at 220 plus cfm from surplus center (not listed in catalog) in Lincoln for $10 apiece. You'll have to inquire by phone but he said more than 250 units were available

I ran the wire from the fans out through the plenum (the speed adjustment is also mounted there). when I pack up, the cord stows nicely in the Plenum. The unit is 24"x 10"x 6.26" (60cm x 25cm x 16cm)
