| | Foredom 1050 Micromotor I have just uncrated my 1050 and am learning how to use the thing. Does anyone have any experience with the machine that can give hints. It is a joy so far and light years ahead of my old machine.

| | Re: Foredom 1050 Micromotor Congratulations, on your new machine. I have one and it has altered the way I carve many things, and raised the bar yet again on the level of detail I want to achieve. The handpiece is comfortable, powerful and almost reads your mind. I like the digital control readout, tells me at a glance without moving the handpiece. The burr change is easy and I love the reverse on it.
I am still learning with mine, but I am attempting to push the limits as far as they will go. Lots of power, torque and flexability.

| | Re: Foredom 1050 Micromotor Do you have the 1/8 collet or the standard 3/32 collet? I have sent away for the 1/8 as the monster carbide burs that I have are on a 1/8 shaft. So far all that I have used are diamond tips, which allow me to add detail in the wood that I wood have used a burner or paint to create.

| | Re: Foredom 1050 Micromotor I just use the 3/32 collet, I find it enough. I have mostly Diamond and Ruby burrs, but also use some of the blue carbide coarser Typhoon burrs. The unit has plenty of torque to provide power to use them.
