Default flexcut drawknife

Hey carvers-
Who has or has used the Flexcut drawknife? Do you like it? Is it bevelled on one side like most dknives? They look like a good medium-light duty drawknife, I might get one someday...

Yes , I have 2 of them and they are really good for light work. I used this tool to shape out the Salmon body in no time at all ... But again ... remember the key word. light work...

Fishgap,

thanks for the quick response-is the flexcut bevel up or bevel on both sides?

I like the salmon- what kind of wood is it?

Mike

The bevel is one side only, and the wood is Bass wood it is 3ft long so it is a large peice. Thanks for your kind words on the carving. The tool is worth the $ but i find it hard to take along with you as the cover is usless and falls off. My point is if you carry it with you in your kit be carfule when you reach in to get it, the blade may be uncoverd.

Alfie--Good to hear from you! Hope all is well with you!

Just a tip--I made my drawknife from an old kitchen knife and it's sharp--I have the scar to prove it! So, I took a piece of rubber automotive fuel hose--1/4" diameter--and slit it down the side. I slipped it over the edge of the blade and it stays put until I pull it off. Works good so far--at least a year.

I got the flexcut drawknife also, I use it mainly to get bark off walking sticks, its very easy to sharpen. Like Alfies I would reccomend it for light work.
