Default First mallet tools

Several weeks ago I posted some pictures of older tools I had purchased and sent to Rick for sharpening. In January I took a class in which the figure we carved was large enough that mallet tools were required. I can’t say enough about how well the tools worked. Here is a picture of the figure roughed out. This is my first carving using mallet tools and I didn’t find that much difference. Sure have to remove a lot more wood though. A lot of work to do yet but I’ll get it finished someday.

Great beginning. Great feeling of a sharp tool going through wood and giving you results like that! Well done.
