Default First knives!

A while back Thomp sent me some small, very sharp knife blades, made from Pen Files. Some of these blades ol Thomp stuck into a dowel for a handle. I think this was a trick to see if I would make handles for them. Well! it worked - I have tried! The top knife handle is made of deer antler with a walnut end. This little detail knife fits right in the palm of your hand. The middle knife handle is deer antler. This middle knife is a special one for a fellow to use when carving the windows in cottonwood bark, Gnome houses. The bottom handle is a bit fat, for a fellow who has RA in his hands. This larger/fat handle should feel better in his hand. These knives are detail knives, that hold an edge very well, but are not meant to "hog" off big chunks of wood. Comments? Improvements?

Tom H,

Very nice work, could you possibly photo from the top (looking down at the knife spine)?

Regards,

FK

Let me say that Thomp grinds these down very thin. They are for fine detail work. They are especially good with the Cottonwood bark details. The "fat" handled knife is already in someone elses tool kit.

Nice work Tom H and looks like Thomp does a great job with the blades.

ok tom here is 6 more, see what you can do with them..
4 detail
1 straight razor
1 modified old trusty blade you mentioned..

without handles its terribly hard to get them carving sharp so you'll have to take them from close to good enough after you mount them..

thomp,
need to get another knife, like Eddie says can't have to many,
now that tom's club has a big bad Burke sharpener , i got a place where i can get them sharpened,
every Monday night i tell myself I'm going up there tomorrow, seems like the gods are not in my favor the next day, but rest assured I'll get there and hassle every one,
put me down for 2 blades , now that i know tom can make the handle , think i might be set,
glad to see you cranking the work out,
SAM
