Rick,

My handle making experience pales in comparison to yours, but several years ago I stumbled across a company in Oklahoma, Jantz Supply, that markets knife making supplies and equipment.

After visiting with them, they recommended Dem-Bart Continental Stock and Checker Oil for finishing the handles. After doing your finish sanding, you coat the wood with this oil, and do your final sanding wet with 400 and then 600 grit. It fills the pores like a sanding sealer, gives a great satin finish, and water and sweat proofs. Let dry for 24 to 48 hours, finish with Johnson's paste wax and you are done.

My extremely humble .02 worth.

Tim

Rick,

Awesome work! That knife should be in a display case! I would be too afraid I would scratch the handle, that my carving wouldn't be worth a darn!

Keep up the good work!

Tim
