Default Dremmel shoe polisher hone

OK, I need some help. I acquired a shoe polisher a few months ago and Santa left me a felt wheel under the tree. I have everything I need except the hardware to marry the wheel to the shaft(mandrel etc.).

I've looked at Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Tractor Supply but can't find what I need. Can anyone give me a source for these parts – maybe part numbers?

I am not sure what all you maybe looking for, but a good old DIY electronics/radio parts store may have want you need. Not Radio Shack either, though its a slim possibility.

Another idea might be an appliance/vacuum cleaner shop that sells parts.

Just thinking out loud here.

Good luck!

Doug, I would check with these folks, if they can't help they might be able to point you in the right direction, Machine Parts for Sharpening Machines

Doug,
Go to Lowe's to the grinder accessory section.
They have a TASK Force 1/2" motor arbor, part #084805, that will change a motor into a grinder. It fits the shoe polisher.

Thanks, I found the Arbor at Lowes now I just need to find a way to make it fit the 5/16" shaft. I have a few ideas – one should work.

Thanks Again.

Doug,
I just used the metal arbor that was in the polishing part of the shoe polisher. You will have to crack the plastic to get to them. Take the polishing bonnet off and that plastic cone has a steel threaded part molded in the plastic. They are the right diameter for the mandrel you just bought at Lowes. To make a mdf wheel just glue some pieces together and turn it on a faceplate. then drill the center from a tailstock mounted chuck. Hope this helps

Thanks Kenny,

However, my polisher must be an older model than yours because its cones are metal.
I find a solution soon.

I converted a shoe polisher to a buffer honer about 4yrs ago, I was lucky I had my nephew make an adapter for me as he was a tool maker at the time, the 5/16 shaft makes it difficult as the adapters available are mostly for 5/8 or 1/2 inch shafts. I didn't care much for the shoe polisher as it is very low on TORQUE but is a lot better than nothing or doing hand stropping...
