| | Diosbud knives, buy one? Good Morning,
I'm a nut for knives. Now I'm interested in the Diobsud small detail knife. Expensive! Does anybody have any experience with Diobsud they would like to share? |

| | Re: Diosbud knives, buy one? In September, 1999 I bought my first Diobsud knife and since then have acquired 3 more. These 4 knives fulfill all my knife carving needs -I do realistic fish, mammals and some human figures.
Yes, they are expensive, however they hold an edge and only require regular stropping. If you take care of the tool your upfront cost can be amortized over a long career of carving. |

| | Re: Diosbud knives, buy one? I four of the knives and also a set of three small gouges and a V tool. Expensive yes, but very much worth it. I'V had mine for over 15 years and never a problem. Just wish they would expand their the choices a little.

| | Re: Diosbud knives, buy one? Yes, I DO love those Diosbud knives. I buy every one available and buy every chisels and gouge available too. They aren't easy to find so don't miss a chance. I disagree with Harold.. ... if they expanded their choices I'd go broke in no time |

| | Re: Diosbud knives, buy one? I have never used a Diobsbud tool so I have no business commenting. However, that won't stop me. Yep, they are pricey but if you ever made a knife or gouge, you know it takes several hours to forge it, shape it, heat treat it, polish it, put the handle on. I figured if I were to sell any of my knives, it would earn me about $10 per hour, excluding materials. Hardly a second career opportunity.
For purchased tools, I personally prefer Cape Forge or Helvie but to each his or her own.
