Detail Knife

I would like to also get a very small bladed detail knife. Any suggestions.

Depending on what your idea of 'very small bladed' is, you might try a Denny 3/4' knife. I love mine! I know Dockyard makes small bladed knives that look like they may be good for getting into tight spaces but I haven't used one of those. Some people don't seem to care for Dockyard though.

If by very small you really mean very small , Dave Lyons make a 1/2' job. The littleshavers part # is 50550. Suspect you could put whiskers on a flea with it. Sure is a cute little thing.

I have a couple of Dave Lyons knives, including the 1/2' and I love them.

They are a bit different than the ones I got a few years ago. but I definately like them for fine detail. 8)

MICRO-MARK (www.micromark.com) has a catalog where they offer verrrry small chisels and surgical scapels. The scapels work great because they are small.flexible, thin and cheap! I use them for carving toothpiks. You can slide a piece of rubber hose over the handle to make them more comfortable.

I absolutely love Dave Lyons knives, so much so that I'm not even tempted to try any other brand. I've been using them for three years now, they hold their edge very well, I never stone them, just strop. I recommend them very highly!
I have some Denny gouges and they are terrific, the little detail knife I had though I broke the tip off...perhaps that was more my bad technique than a poor blade! Really shouldn't use any knife to 'dig and pry' at the wood! : Callynne
