| | Re: Detail Knife I think I will try a few different ones untill I find one I am comfortable with, picked up a mini folding lock back box cutter made by Kobalt today at work, think I will give it a try. I also have a glove on the way to curb some of the cuts I have. Its funny now that I think about it, I survived two years being a cop, 8 years and one war with the 101st ABN. without a scratch only to cut myself carving. LOL |

| | Re: Detail Knife I think this is what Lynn uses (or one at least like it). This is the old style Stanley model 299. I haven't seen these aroiund for a long time until Dave sent me this one....now I see them all over in the hardware stores.
Make sure you get the one without the retractible blade though. Thios model has the fixed blade. Lynn does some fantastic work with just this knife......I haven't mastered the thing yet, but am working on it.
This one used to be gray, but I painted it yellow so I wouldn't grab my retractable by mistake.

| | Re: Detail Knife I use several but Lynn has a convert. I pick up the Stanley 199 more and more.
Of course, I haven't tried many others except the Denny's, Bud Murray, Helvies, flexcut, Drastra, and the prettiest one, a Rick Ferry knife. I know the Ferry knife is a carver but, May just keep it in a display box.
Not to trusting of any of the collapsable utility knives.
Yellow? Nah, Gray!!!!!!!! |
