| | Dave Lyons knives Need some help here! Anyone have information on contacting Dave Lyons. Dave had a box of very inexpensive (electricians knifes) that he sells. The blade was good steel, handle kind of klunky hard rubber. Great knife for beginners. I need to get some of these to provide to new carvers at our carving group. Anyone have his e-mail address or any other means of contact. Thanks...

| | Re: Dave Lyons knives Try contacting him through Smokey Mountain Woodcarvers supply. If I remember right, I bought a couple of his knives from them. The owner said he spoke with Dave on a regular basis. Really nice knives by the way. |

| | Re: Dave Lyons knives Tom, the murphy knives would be good for beginners and there only about 11 bucks a piece.

| | Re: Dave Lyons knives Dave Lyons sells his knives at some of the Ohio woodcarving shows. He is usually in the Ohio Decoy Collector and Carver show, in the middle of March. If you can't locate those knives, let me know and I'll look for them at the show. Mike |

Not sure if it's the same knife but I think I have what you are talking about, it is made I think by Klein elec. supply, if it is the same they are available at H.D. and Lowes. |

| | Re: Dave Lyons knives Thanks for all the information folks. I have sent off an inquiry to Dave about the knife in question. Now tomorrow I'll check at Lowes and HD, it they have em; great. I know that the Murphy Knife is the customary starter carving knife. The last 2 new guys that I let use some of my loaners both preferred the "electricians" knife over the Murphy. I too think the "electricians" knife required less stropping to maintain a good edge. Again, thanks..

| | Re: Dave Lyons knives Keith,
It never occured to me that a talented knife maker would reshape the blade. The blade on this example is quite different, and the handles on the ones Dave had were blue, but never the less were the same handle. There is no wording on the blade either, but if it were reshaped there wouldn't be. However, the price on the one that I bought at the Dayton show was under $10. I'll hear from Dave in a few days so we'll find out. It really is a fine knife. Thanks for the information.
