| | "Cutting Oil" vs "Honing Oil I was going thru some of my old stuff and found an unopened bottle of "Cutting Oil" used for typical machinery type operations. I'm sure because of where I had it located in my woodcarving stuff that I bought it at woodcarving show for honing oil. Is this in fact a real corellation, "Cutting Oil" vs "Honing Oil"? |

| | Re: "Cutting Oil" vs "Honing Oil I thought they both may be used for honing but I wasn't sure. The "Cutting Oil" is much darker and smells like really heavy oil while the other "Honing Oil" that came with my sharpening stone you can almost see thru it it's so light and no smell to speak of.
The "little" woman is doing well. Found out meds were the problem and since she changed them not problem. She says hi.
Been working on the horse today we got at Bishop's. It's a good tool learning experience using preshaped wood, and it's fun but I'm looking forward to creating my own pieces. No replacement for tool handling /wood grain characteristics other than actual carving, as you know. |

| | Re: "Cutting Oil" vs "Honing Oil You are correct in the cutting oil is heavier and it needs to be as metal cutting metal generates a lot of heat. But like I said, can be used for honing. Seen my Grandfather spit on a wetstone and sharpen his knife.
Glad you found out it was her meds. Tell her hi back. Yep, Learned a lot in a short time there and what to do with end grained carving.
Notice your avitar id of that beautiful knife you mad. Another high lite of the trip, and meeting you as well as other good people. maybe next time more time to talk.
