Hi, I bought a set of old craftsman carving chisels at a garage sale 4 or 5 years ago. They were in excellent shape, I don't think they'd ever been put in wood yet. from the way the C in craftsman is stamped, I'd say they are from at least the 60's. Green enameled handles in a faded red box. They looked like good quality tools, made in USA. Anyway, I was looking at them today, and noticed that on the ferrules is stamped made in USA BB, and also on the handles there is a BB stamped. Here is my question, does anyone know if Buck Brothers ever made any tools for craftsman? I'm probably going to sharpen them up and use them cause they really seem to be good little detail chisels, but I was just curious. Russell |

buck brothers made some very good woodcarving tools during the 60's. IMO I think some of the best steel I have used. It will not take you long to find out.

Somewhere in the fog of my pea brain I remember reading about Buck Bros. making carving tools for Sears. They should be made of really good steel and sharpen very well. Garon |

Ok, I'm pretty well convinced that they are Buck Bros. Found an old set of craftsmans for sale on ebay, although they looked like lathe chisels from the pic, they had the BB marking like mine do, one had a missing handle, and on the tang was stamped Buck Brothers. Proof enough for me. I sharpened up a couple of them this morning, and they took a great edge. Saving the best part for last, I gave 5.00 for the set when I bought them! Some times ya do get lucky!
