His book is simple and practical. You can read a chapter from it here: Popular Mechanics Workshop Band Saw And here are manuals for Craftsman for $3.75 Craftsman Band Saw Manuals Pick 1 - eBay (item 270401487501 end time Jul-02-09 03:22:56 PDT) Last edited by abrakadabra; 06-16-2009 at 09:05 PM. |

Last week I found one of these at a garage sale and picked it up for $50. It has a blade (don't know what type, yet), and it runs. Other than that, I don't know much as I haven't had the opportunity to look at it closely. The table has very little rust, the motor runs, and it looks like everything's there. The manual is in pretty poor shape, but thanks to carver33's link, I'll have a new manual printed out tonight. Hopefully this week I'll have the time to clean it up, order a blade, and get everything adjusted. I'm looking forward to all the cool stuff I'll be able to do with my new toy.

Hello everyone and I'm glad to be on your site. I still work fulltime but I do woodworking in my shop when time permits and have two small craving projects going on that one is 15% started and another one just started. I'm having issues with my Craftman 12" bandsaw adjustments on the drive wheel. The rubber tire keeps coming off when I adjust the pitch and will not run in the center of the tire. The lower wheel is working fine and the rubber tire works great. This is the first problem I have had on the bandsaw (23 years). I take it that both rubber tires need to be replaced before the bandsaw will work properly again??? Anyone's feedback would be appreciated and have a great day. Woodtobe

I'm pretty sure the manuals and part lists are available on-line.

Hey....that's my saw! As the motor is running I'd check the saws tires. Sears still carries all the spares for this model. I'd also suggest ordering a set of Cool-Blocks for the guides as that will save you blades. Lastly get a couple 3/16" 4-teeth per inch skip tooth blades...80" as unless your into resawing this blade will just about be the only one you'll need. I bought my saw new back in the 70's and it's running as good as the day I carried it out of Sears.

I don't have a Craftsman saw but this holds true for any of the two wheel saws. Check with a good straight edge and make sure both wheels are running in the same plane. I had a Delta 14" saw one time that was about an 1/8" out of alignment and had a heck of a time keeping it tuned up. Finally I found out that there was a problem. I put a shim behind one of the wheels and had no more problems. Just something to check. Ray |

Very good rule about not mixing alcohol and power tools. The sales staff of www.sawblade.com will be very glad to assist you whatever blade you need for your new Craftsman band saw. |
