Default Cogelow skew gouges

I would like to hear some opinions from anybody that has used the Cogelow skews. Besides being a pain to sharpen, how well do they perform in relief carving ? and/or in the round carving ? I looked up some past posts on HT tools but could not find anything specific to the Cogelow's.

Chris Pye has a brief "review" of these tools in the second edition of his first book on woodcarving tools and equipment.

I don't have the book here at work, but as I recall it says something like: they might be some assistance to new carvers in some circumstances but offer nothing that can't be done with traditional tools...
but again I paraphrase.

The problem is that you need three to do the work of one..Take a number 8 as an example.. You need a right hand, a left hand , and a regular No eight which will do the work of either..I think the tools are "bents", not sure of long bent, or short bent,,,so the normal/regular tool will have the same curvature..By the way, I prefer long bent tools for relief carving, goes much faster, less work ,,,Sorry if this post is choppy, was working outside in below 20 degree weather, carving, had heat sucker shoes on and am trying to warm up,,,,cordially Nad
