Default Cobblers tool for carving

Yesterday went to an antique and flea market. Saw these old (I suppose they are cobblers tools), and bought two for $2.00. The steel seems good. I sharpened one into kind of a curved knife, and left the other as it was. You can see that they are very small. The one I sharpened I tried using to clean up some small carvings. The plain one I am using as a burnisher. Both seemed to work great. For small work, these are easier to use, and I think a lot better looking than dental tools....And cheap to. Tom H

Nice find, Tom. I love finding old tools that I can clean up and use--many times the old steel is better than new versions. Looks like you found a couple that will come in handy for special projects or tasks.

Well done Tom. I believe they will make splendid tools, and you have just given them a new career path!!! I'm sure you will be able to modify them to suit your need. They look very "comfortable" to the hand.
