| | Carving Tools Unpacked...finally! Yesterday I unpacked all my non-power carving tools. They've been in plastic crates for several months after our move from Florida to Tennessee, it's sure good to see them again! I have a lot of signs to make for our vineyard, so started on them and some grapes and grape leaves. I've got them all spread out on 2 tables right now as I try to get them organized.
An organizing question: I have alot of Ashley Iles gouges and chisels. In FL I had them sorted all #1's together, smallest to largest, all #2's the same, etc. I'm thinking about sorting larger tools out into a separate cabinet drawer, maybe anything 1" or larger, separate from the general set. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated...I can work myself to death arranging and re-arranging my tools and never sure I have them the way that makes the most sense...that's why I did them the way I did in the past. But while they're all out on the table would be a good time to re-think things. Any thoughts?
If anyone would like I'd post a picture of the tools on the tables. It looks pretty, but pretty compulsive, obsessive...I'm a collector of tools and go a little nuts enjoying the collecting. I've already given away 3 sets of 35 Ashley Iles to 3 of my 5 Kids and plan on sorting out 2 more sets for my other 2 Kids...maybe I should do that as I organize this time. I haven't had much luck posting pictures in the past (downsizing) but I'll give it a try again if someone wants to see a picture.

| | Re: Carving Tools Unpacked...finally! After seeing what Mark Y. does with the small tools he has, I've put away most of my large chisels <GRIN>
I think it would be a good idea to sort out the small vs the big tools, Wade. Or even make up an area for "most used tools." I have a large #5 gouge that I use a lot, but most of my other tools are 1/4 or 1/2" wide...

Paula did it...I have no idea how...I followed instructions and couldn't get there so I handed it to her...it's her 3 hours. Anyway, here is one of 6 photos I was going to post...it's not worth 3 hours each to post the rest.

| | Re: Carving Tools Unpacked...finally! the second one is easier. I know there's a simple click three times here and there and it's done, but we just can't seem to find it. the images are WAY too large to begin with. |

Our son, a professional photographer, downloaded a few programs for working with photos on his dad's computer. somehow, all these programs get mixed up and don't seem to be user friendly, but finally, I got two more to upload onto the site! hope you enjoy the fruit of my labor! |

You folks are like family! You really are. BUT I want you to know we have his tools guarded with seventeen pit bulls all tethered in a circle around the barn.........
good nite to all, if you're ever in our neck of the woods, call us and come by. but call first so we can feed the dogs! (JK)
