| | Carving bench finished Well several coats of Danish Oil and steel wool later, I'm finished with the bench and began using it. It is great to have so much room to move around. Now I can make some bigger projects! As you can see, I have lots of partly finished work to complete, but that's the fun part, I can have several projects on the go at one time. The carving group love it and all have their favorite spot already.

That looks like a very good, strong bench. That'll last a generation or two I suppose. Good job.

| | Re: Carving bench finished Bob, Now that's a great looking, one of a kind, bench. The finish has a nice soft look to it. Tom H |

| | Re: Carving bench finished If you could only see what I'm using for a bench, you'd shack you head. I've got benches along the wall but I needed something in the centre of my shop to work around on. The bench, if I can call it that, is a hollowed out TV frame. Not near as sturdy as the one you built here.

As I'm mostly limited at home to just a lap table so I know that you are quite happy about this great new addition!
I also like what appears to be a neat little paint holder/organizer leaning against the wall on the floor in the first picture. Now, that's what I really need!
Thanks for posting! |

| | Re: Carving bench finished Bob,
To picture you with a "better" tool or place to carve is exciting! You've done so well with so far less...I can hardly wait to see what's next! There's a lot to be said for having the right work space, hu! Very nice!

| | Re: Carving bench finished Lightningbolt....that paint caddy is simple to make, I took the design from a small one I bought and made it larger to handle my own growing number of paint bottles, from some scraps of lumber I had here from some old windowboxes I bought just for the wood. Just plain out grew the other one.
Funny though....... the old caddy sat in the corner for the past two months, until yesterday! I had an inspiration, and converted it to a perfect tool holder for my new Pfiel carving tools, that wouldn't fit in my tool chest., being full length tools and the chest designed for medium or smaller length ones.
