| | Re: carvin' jack Has anybody used one? If so, do you like it? I've thought about buying one, I use my pocket knives quite a bit to do things like balls in cages, chains, and most recently a whistle.

I haven't tried one but it's on my Santa list! I'd jump on this one, but I'm incredibly left handed and this is a rightie. My Dad used to say the only thing I could do with my right hand was hold bread and only then if I kept my elbow on the table! I'm training myself to get over it and be ambidextrous, but you can't do a lot to change a natural bent. I'm finding some things in carving aren't right or left unless you perceive them that way!

| | Re: carvin' jack I have one, I use it when I go camping or out of town, my only complaint is that it doesn't have a detail blade, some people with smaller hands may not like it.

| | Re: carvin' jack Ah, c'mon guys, make your own. You can find enough scrap wood around for handles and old metal stuff for blades to make an unlimited supply of the things (and it's fun). Not to mention, you haven't lived until you've carved with a knife made from an old straight razor. There's lots of knicked up/broken ones on ebay (if Rick hasn't bought them all). Just follow the directions on his site. Old file work too, as do old pocket knives, etc. etc.... But razors seem to be the best for some reason. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
