Default Cape Forge Knife?

What do yall think? I've been trying to decide whether or not to buy a Cape Forge knife. I'm currently using a "Swiss Made" knife, but it is time to upgrade. From what I've read about them, they are good knifes and the guarantee that comes with them seems like a good thing to have.

Knives are one of those things like wives and girlfriends, kind of real personal. Some folks like one kind other folks like the other. One size definitely does not fit all. Unlike wives and girlfriends we can have many. Go ahead, buy the Cape Forge, you may like it and you may not. If you don't there's always many more out there. Cape Forge makes a good product.

I love my cape forge knife, I think they call it the J blade. No other knife, for me, gets as sharp. It is slightly brittle, I have broken the tip twice but just tune it up and keep on carving. I think the forging makes it a bit different then other knives.

I have a cape forge and its a good knife, a bit thicker blade makes it good for harder woods......for my basswood, I still prefer my Helvies ...but thats my personal opinion so far.....of course, I don't own all the brands available.......yet!

Don't own a Cape Forge knife so can't help you there. I will say, try it! You will never know if you would like it or not, if you don't.
I have several brand name knives an just got another Helvie, This one is a short handle one, Gerald Sears signature one but have not used it yet. I seem to fall back to the Stanley #199 utility knife. See what you done Lynn? LOL Nah, It does the job and seems better than most knives. I have rounded off the back side for more of a comfortable thumb power cut technique.

But like Ol Ed said, some likes a brand where others don't.

Let us know how ya like the Capr forge knife.

I agree with HI-Ho, I like the Cape Forge for the hardwoods but it is hard to beat the Helvie knives for bass wood.

One thing for certain, you couldn't prove it by me, I use a Swiss Army Knife.

I got a Cape Forge carving knife, and "the battleaxe" this past fall. Love 'em both and can't recommend them highly enough!

I also have the traveler mini knife set and mini gouge set. I love them for travel. Which I do every other month or so. At home I do like the swissies as they are larger and heavier. The knife blades and steel are excelent. and they are great people to work with. JMHO. Ken
