You won't be sorry to have the Gonzoles skew....it offset shape of the blade really does make a difference. It is literally the first carving tool I grab. I use it for roughing out down to the fine details. I even use it to trim dovetails, rabbets, mortises and tenons when I'm working on a regular woodworking project.

I bought the short Gonzales skew from Tools for working wood. Like BobD, it is often one of the first tools I reach for. I looked at the other wannabe tools, and I think the Ashley Iles tool is the better way to go. I think that the thickness of the Denny tool might get in the way if you're planning on using the tool to do fine detail work. Either way, the Ashley Iles tool is versatile for fine work as well as general carving--even roughing in to a certain extent.

I could see the Denny being to thick, but what about the Drake version, he makes a great tool and thin blades ?
