Hi, I was with you until you said 1/4 in. wide. What do you use that small of blade for? I do have some blade blanks that are about 5 1/2 in long and 5/8 inches wide. send me a PM if you want a couple.

Depending on what type of steel you're looking for, McMaster-Carr or any local industrial supplier should have what you're looking for. Also, check with a local tool & die shop. You might be able to work out something since they buy in bulk, and the cost to you would be a little cheaper than to buy steel from one of the suppliers. Bob L Here's a link to McMaster Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com/param/asp/PS...MainWidth=1059 It's for O-1 steel 1/16"x1/4"--and you have your choice of 18" or 36" long. It's a start--look around the website and you might find something else. |

I like to try using an old broken China knife . you just need a lot of honing

I made a couple of decent detail knives out of sabre saw blades....if you want a longer one , try a reciprocal saw blade.

If you want something already done and ready for a handle check with littleshavers. He's got Murpy and Denny blades.

Why go to all the work and trouble! Just order a pre-made blank blade from Little Shavers!
