Default blade fixing

I bought a set of miniature Ramelson palm tools recently. The blades with the curved ends, the U tools, are not even. They look like they were bitten off by tiny little mice. The V tool has one corner rounded off.

They don't cut well at all. I am comparing them to my Little Shavers beginner set.

I am going to send them to get fixed at Little Shavers when they get back from their holiday. I think it will be a good deal since I bought them elsewhere.

I wonder if it is normal to get tools in that condition.

What do y'all think?

Ramelson tools usually come pretty darn close to carving ready. We've had similiar posts concerning other manufactures. If you in fact bought a set new and right from the factory it might be a set that slipped by quality control. I'm sure that Rick would appreciate the work but before you ship them off you might try contacting Ramelson UJRamelson1937@verizon.net and let them know what your problem is. They might even send you another set in exchange.

You know, I never even thought of that.
I will do that. Only 3 of the tools are uneven.

Thanks!

I have purchased some Ramelsons seconds that come in that condition, but they should be identified as a second and not a flawless tool. They are generally quite a bit cheaper then their normal tools.

I wonder if mine are seconds. They were not sold as seconds. I am past my 30 days to return these to the place I bought them. I did not get these directly from the factory.

I think I will send them on to Little Shavers and take this as a learning experience.

Thanks for all the great information.

Andagail.... I'd still contact Ramelson. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! A manufacturer can tell on examination whether they've been used or whether the problem is manufacturing!

That really gets my hopes up. I am chomping at the bit already, thanks to the holidays. I sent a picture showing a close-up of the three blades. icon.
